## Crypto Airfare Index: method in 7 lines

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Routes | 22 routes chosen for crypto use or card limits at departure, from Lagos, Delhi, Mumbai, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Seoul, Sydney, Madrid, Frankfurt, Paris and Toronto |
| Search | One-way, 1 adult, economy cabin, fares in US dollars, departure about 30 days after the survey |
| What counts | Fares on every airline except sanctioned airlines, with no stop in the United Kingdom or in a sanctioned country |
| Figure | The lowest market fare observed, taxes included |
| Not our selling price | A market reference: at checkout, the price shown is the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged, and it may differ |
| Freshness | A fare is shown for 14 days after its survey, then hidden until the next survey |

## What does the index measure?

It measures the lowest one-way market fare observed on each route, on the day of the survey, for a departure about 30 days later. It is a snapshot, not an average, and it is not our selling price. A route can be cheaper or dearer on other dates, in other cabins or with more travellers.

The index counts every airline except sanctioned airlines. Low-cost airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet and VietJet Air count too, because our team can book them on request. Itineraries with a stop in the United Kingdom or in a sanctioned country are left out, even when their fare is lower.

## Why publish market fares with a date?

Because a fare without a date is not useful. Fares change every day, and most crypto travel sites show no dated fare at all. Each row here shows when the fare was observed and for which departure date, so you can judge how fresh it is.

The price shown at search is the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged. After checkout, our team books the ticket with the airline and confirms the final total. If it is higher, you choose: accept it, or have the amount released. Nothing extra is taken without your agreement.

## Is a flight cheaper if I pay in crypto?

Not by itself. The fare is the fare. What changes is how you pay: no card is used at our checkout, so card limits and foreign-currency card fees do not apply to that payment. Your exchange, network fees and local tax rules still apply.

The [card friction index](https://satfares.com/card-friction-index/) lists card limits and fees by country, and [the real cost of paying in crypto](https://satfares.com/real-cost-of-paying-in-crypto/) explains the network side. Pay in stablecoins; local tax and exchange rules still apply.

## How often is the index updated?

We run the survey again regularly, and each row shows the date of its last survey. A row older than 14 days is hidden rather than shown out of date. The data is also published as JSON and CSV files, linked under the table, and on our [open data page](https://satfares.com/data/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Which route is cheapest to fly with crypto?

The table ranks nothing: it shows the lowest market fare observed on each route, with its date. Short routes such as Toronto to Cancún or Mumbai to Dubai cost less than long ones such as Buenos Aires to Madrid. Check the date of each row, because fares change every day.

### Is the fare in the index the price I will pay on SatFares?

Not necessarily. It is the lowest market fare observed on the survey date, for one adult and one way, not our selling price. Your price depends on your dates, cabin and travellers. The live search shows the fare found for your trip, taxes included. The final total is confirmed before you are charged.

### Does the index include taxes?

Yes. Every fare in the index includes taxes and is in US dollars for one adult, one way, in economy. Taxes are also included at search. The price shown is the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged.

### Why is an airline I know missing from a route?

Because it had no fare in the search results for the date checked, or only fares we leave out. The index counts every airline except sanctioned airlines. It leaves out itineraries with a stop in the United Kingdom or in a sanctioned country. The live search shows the airlines for your own dates.

### Can I reuse the data?

Yes, under CC BY 4.0, with a link to this page. The JSON and CSV files are linked under the table. Each row keeps its survey date and departure date, so please quote them with the price.

### Which coins can I use to pay for these flights?

USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, USDC on ERC-20, BTC, ETH, SOL and LTC. You top up a balance from $25, then book. The amount is held at checkout and charged only when the airline issues the e-ticket number.

SatFares: SatFares is a flight booking site paid only in crypto (USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, USDC, BTC, ETH, SOL, LTC). The airline issues the ticket in the traveller's name, and your balance is charged only when the e-ticket number is issued.
