Paying for a flight in crypto depends on where you live and pay. Your card's limits and fees, the legal status of crypto and your tax rules all change. One page per country, each fact with its date and source.

**Quick answer — Why does my departure country matter when I pay for a flight in crypto?**

**SatFares**, a flight booking site paid only in crypto, publishes a page for 9 departure countries. Each one lists card caps or fees abroad, the legal status of crypto for residents, our routes and the main airports. As of October 2026, examples range from naira cards capped at $2,000 a month to a 30% perception on card spending in Argentina. Every booking is **held, not charged**, until the e-ticket is issued.

## Why does the country you pay from change the answer?

Because four things depend on it, and none of them depends on the airline.

1. **Your card.** Limits and fees are set by your bank and your country. Nigerian banks cap naira cards for dollar spending. Argentina adds a 30% perception, and Brazil charges 3.5% IOF. Cards in India, Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines and Colombia add fees from 0% to about 4%.
2. **The law on crypto.** Holding crypto is allowed in all nine countries we cover, but Vietnam treats crypto as an unlawful means of payment. Mexico forbids its banks to offer crypto to the public.
3. **Your taxes.** India taxes income from crypto transfers at 30% plus cess. Nigeria taxes gains as income since January 1, 2026, and Korea plans a tax from January 2027.
4. **Where flights are blocked.** We don't sell flights to, from or within Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, Syria. Flights to and from the following countries are paused at launch: the United Kingdom.

What stays the same everywhere: the airline issues the ticket in the traveller's name, and it needs the same traveller data. No ID upload, no selfie at checkout. Airline ID rules still apply.

## What do these pages not cover?

They are not legal or tax advice, and they cover nine countries only. We chose them with public data: Chainalysis 2026 crypto adoption ranks, outbound travel and documented card friction. Brazil ranks 1st, Nigeria 3rd, South Korea 5th, India 6th, Mexico 11th, Vietnam 18th and the Philippines 19th in the Chainalysis 2026 index. Across the 117 countries of that index, 96% of domestic peer-to-peer transfers were in stablecoins (KuCoin, September 23, 2026).

We don't publish a page for a departure country where we can't sell flights. The list and the reasons are on [sanctions and restrictions](https://satfares.com/sanctions-and-restrictions/). For the figures country by country, see the [Card Friction Index](https://satfares.com/card-friction-index/).

## How does a booking work from any of these countries?

The same way everywhere. Top up your balance from $25 in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC: USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20) only. Search the route in our live search, check the total and check out. The price shown is the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged. Our fee: none (no booking fee or payment fee is added). Your balance is held at checkout, and our team books the ticket with the airline on request. You are charged only when the airline issues the e-ticket number. If the ticket can't be issued in time, the amount is released. Pay in stablecoins; local tax and exchange rules still apply.

## Departure countries: questions

### Which departure countries does SatFares cover?

Nine country pages are published as of October 2026: Nigeria, Brazil, Argentina, India, Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, Mexico and Colombia. Each page lists card limits and fees, the legal status of crypto and our routes from that country. The live search also accepts departures from other countries, except where we can't sell flights.

### Can I book a flight from the United Kingdom?

Not yet. Flights to and from the following countries are paused at launch: the United Kingdom. Flights sold by SatFares are not ATOL protected. Routes from London are in our list, for example London to Bangkok, but they are not on sale. Departures from the nine countries on this page are on sale.

### Can I book local airlines such as IndiGo or Cebu Pacific?

Yes, on request. Since October 12, 2026, local and low-cost airlines such as IndiGo, Air India, VietJet Air, Cebu Pacific and Aeroméxico can be searched on SatFares. After checkout, our team books the ticket with the airline. Sanctioned airlines are never sold, and flights to or from the United Kingdom are paused.

### Is it legal to pay for a flight in crypto in my country?

It depends on where you live. Holding crypto is allowed in the nine countries we cover, but Vietnam says crypto is not a lawful means of payment. Each country page states what we found, with its source, and what we could not verify.

### Does paying in crypto change my taxes?

It can. Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country. India taxes income from crypto transfers at 30% plus cess, and Nigeria taxes crypto gains as income since January 1, 2026. Keep a record of each top-up and ask a local tax adviser.

### Why do card limits matter for a flight?

A long-haul ticket can be a large payment in foreign currency. Access Bank capped some Nigerian naira cards at $2,000 a month in August 2026, and cards in other countries add fees or tax perceptions. Each country page gives the figures with their dates. Pay in stablecoins; local tax and exchange rules still apply.

### Do the country pages give the price of flights?

No. Country pages give no price. The detailed route pages show the lowest market fare observed in our latest survey, with its date; it is not our selling price. The live search shows the total for all passengers, taxes included, before you pay: the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged. The amount is held, not charged, until the airline issues the e-ticket number.
