Quick answer
What open data does SatFares publish?
SatFares, a flight booking site paid only in crypto, publishes three open datasets: the Airline Crypto Acceptance Index, the Crypto Travel Seller Registry and the Crypto Airfare Index of market fares observed on our routes. All are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0, as JSON and CSV files, and every row carries its date. The airline index was last checked on October 12, 2026.

What is in the Airline Crypto Acceptance Index?
One row per airline: does it accept crypto directly, and how? The same data is shown as a table on airlines that accept crypto, with one page per airline.
iata, airline, country: the airline's IATA code, name and country code.crypto_direct: the status, one ofactive, reported, unverified, stopped, noneorunknown.processor, coins, networks: how the airline takes crypto, when it does.conditions: who can pay this way, for example residents of one country only.since, until: when crypto payment started or stopped.checked: the date of our last check of this row.evidence,source_title,source_url: the kind of source (official,press,third-partyorresearch) and the source itself.bookable_with_us: whether the airline can be booked on SatFares.card_holder_check: whether the airline may check the card holder, which matters when an agent pays.
What do the crypto statuses mean?
- active: the airline accepts crypto directly today, confirmed by a source.
- reported: crypto payment is reported in the press, but not confirmed on the airline's official site.
- unverified: crypto payment was announced, but we could not confirm it today.
- stopped: the airline accepted crypto in the past and has stopped.
- none: the airline does not accept crypto directly.
- unknown: we have not found a reliable source yet. A row without a check date and a source is shown as not verified.
"Directly" means paid to the airline itself, not through an agency that pays the airline in regular currency.
What is in the Crypto Travel Seller Registry?
One row per website that sells travel paid in crypto: who is behind it, and what its terms say. It is the data behind the refund policy matrix and the crypto flight booking sites compared.
seller, domain, company, jurisdiction: the site and the company that runs it.sells, status: what it sells, and whether it is active.coins_networks: the coins and networks it accepts.refund_of_crypto_payment: how it refunds a crypto payment, per its terms.fees,id_checks,blocked: published fees, identity checks and blocked countries.checked, sources: the date of our check and the pages we read.
The registry states facts from each seller's own pages, with dates. It gives no ratings and no verdicts.
What is in the Crypto Airfare Index?
One row per route: the lowest one-way market fare observed for 1 adult in economy, taxes included, with the date of the survey, the departure date, the number of fares observed and the airlines seen. Since October 12, 2026, every airline is counted except sanctioned airlines. Itineraries with a stop in the United Kingdom or in a sanctioned country are left out.
These are market fares, not our selling price: the live price at checkout may differ. A route is left out of the file when its last survey is older than 14 days. The same data is shown on the crypto airfare index.
How do I cite SatFares data?
Credit SatFares, name the dataset, give the date of the check and link to the page. For example:
Source: SatFares, Airline Crypto Acceptance Index, checked October 12, 2026, https://satfares.com/airlines-that-accept-crypto/ (CC BY 4.0).
If you change the data, say so. You can reuse it for any purpose, including commercial use, under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.
How do we check each row?
We read the airline's or the seller's own pages first: payment pages, terms, help pages and official announcements. If there is no official page, we use the press or a third party, and we say so in the evidence column.
Each row gets the date of our check. The date of a file changes only when a row really changes. When a source disappears or contradicts itself, the status becomes unverified or unknown rather than a guess.
To report an error, write to [email protected] with the row and a source. We correct the row and update its date.
Is SatFares neutral?
No. We sell airline tickets paid in crypto. Our offer is included and marked.
This is why every row has a source that you can check yourself, and why the data is open. The registry states facts about other sellers, as of the date of the check and per their own terms. It never ranks them by opinion.
What data is not published yet?
We publish a figure only after we have measured it. As of October 2026, there is no file yet for:
- the typical time between booking and e-ticket;
- network fees measured on our own test payments.
Each file will be added here, and listed in the changelog, when it exists.
Open data questions
Is SatFares data free to use?
Yes. All three datasets are free under the CC BY 4.0 license, for any purpose, including commercial use. You must credit SatFares and link to the source page. You don't need an account or a key: download the JSON or CSV files from the table on this page.
How often is the data checked?
Each row shows the date of our last check, so you always know how fresh it is. The airline index was last checked on October 12, 2026, and the seller registry on October 13, 2026. We check a row again when an airline or a seller announces a change.
Why do many airlines show the status unknown?
Because we found no reliable source for them yet. We don't guess: a status needs a source and a check date. If you know a source, send it to [email protected], and we will check it and date the row. The checked column shows when we last looked.
Does an airline marked active accept crypto through SatFares?
No. The status describes the airline's own payment options, on its own website or app, with its own conditions. SatFares is a separate seller: you pay us in crypto, and the airline issues the ticket. The column bookable_with_us says whether you can book that airline on SatFares.
Is SatFares in the seller registry?
The files list other sellers. On our comparison pages, such as the refund policy matrix, our own offer is included and marked. We sell airline tickets paid in crypto, so we are not neutral. That is why each row links to the seller's own terms.
Can I use the data in an article or a study?
Yes. Quote the facts with the date of the check, and link to the source page, for example airlines that accept crypto. The license asks for credit to SatFares and a link to the license. Say if you changed the data.
