Quick answer
USDT or USDC: which stablecoin should I use to pay for flights?
Use the stablecoin you already hold, on a network SatFares accepts. To pay for flights in crypto, USDT works on Tron (TRC-20, 20 confirmations) or Ethereum (ERC-20, 12 confirmations). USDC works on Ethereum (ERC-20, 12 confirmations) only. Both track the US dollar. If the airline cancels, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. Your balance is held, not charged, until the e-ticket is issued.

Which stablecoin should I use to pay for a flight?
Use the one you already hold, as long as it is on an accepted network. At SatFares, the price is the same whether you pay in USDT or USDC. The price shown is the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged. Your balance is kept in US dollars, so the coin does not change what you can book.
The real choice is the network. USDT on Tron and USDT on Ethereum are the same coin, but they use different addresses, fees and confirmation counts. USDC has only one option here: Ethereum (ERC-20).
- You hold USDT on Tron: choose USDT, then Tron (TRC-20).
- You hold USDT on Ethereum: choose USDT, then Ethereum (ERC-20).
- You hold USDC on Ethereum: choose USDC.
- You hold USDC on Solana, Base or Polygon: it is not accepted. Move it to Ethereum first, or use another accepted coin.

Why is USDC accepted only on ERC-20?
Because our payment system checks each USDC payment on Ethereum only. It looks for a transfer of the official USDC token contract to our Ethereum address. A USDC transfer on any other network is a different transaction on a different blockchain, so it can't be matched.
Circle lists 38 networks for USDC, including Solana, Base, Polygon PoS and Arbitrum (checked October 12, 2026). Tether lists USDT on Tron, Ethereum, Solana, TON, Aptos and other networks. At SatFares, only three of these combinations are accepted: USDT on Tron, USDT on Ethereum and USDC on Ethereum.
What happens if I send a stablecoin on the wrong network?
Funds sent on another network may be lost, and we can't promise to recover them. The most common mistakes are these:
- USDT on BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) to our Ethereum address. Both use addresses that start with 0x, so your wallet may accept the address. The coins stay on BNB Smart Chain and never reach Ethereum.
- USDC on Solana, Base or Polygon. None of these is an accepted USDC network.
- USDC sent on a USDT top-up, or the reverse. The payment checks the token as well as the network. The top-up is rejected. Contact support with your transaction ID (TXID), but we can't promise to recover the funds.
- USDT ERC-20 sent to the Tron address. A Tron address starts with T: an Ethereum wallet should refuse it. If it does not, stop.
Always copy the address from the payment page after you choose the coin and the network. Check the network name on the withdrawal screen of your exchange before you confirm.
How is a stablecoin refund paid when the airline cancels?
If the airline cancels your flight, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. You choose between USDT and USDC: the refund does not have to use the coin you paid with.
If you cancel yourself, the fare rules of your ticket apply, and any refund is credited to your balance. If the ticket can't be issued in time, or you decline a higher final total, the held amount is released to your balance. Balance rule: Unused balance stays on your account and never expires. Amounts released when a booking can't be confirmed, or refunded after a cancellation you did not request, can be withdrawn in USDT or USDC; the rest of the balance is not refundable.
See refunds when the airline cancels for the rules that apply to US and EU flights.

USDT or USDC: common questions
Is USDT or USDC better for paying for flights?
Neither is better at SatFares: the price and the refund options are the same for both. Choose the coin you hold on an accepted network. USDT gives you two network options, Tron and Ethereum. USDC gives you one, Ethereum. Your balance is in US dollars either way.
Can I pay for flights with USDC on Solana or Base?
No. SatFares accepts USDC only on Ethereum (ERC-20). USDC on Solana, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum or any other network is not accepted, and funds sent there may be lost. Move your USDC to Ethereum first, or pay with another accepted coin, such as USDT on Tron.
Can I pay with USDT on BEP-20 (BNB Smart Chain)?
No. USDT on BNB Smart Chain is not accepted. Its addresses start with 0x like Ethereum addresses, so a wallet may accept our ERC-20 address by mistake. The coins would stay on BNB Smart Chain. Choose Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20) instead.
Which stablecoin option needs fewer confirmations?
The two Ethereum options. USDT and USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20) are credited after 12 confirmations. USDT on Tron (TRC-20) is credited after 20 confirmations. The payment page shows the confirmations as they arrive, so you can follow your top-up. The count is fixed in our payment settings and is the same for every amount.
Do I need ETH or TRX to send a stablecoin?
Yes, from your own wallet. On Ethereum, the network fee is always paid in ETH, even for USDT or USDC. On Tron, a USDT transfer uses Energy and Bandwidth, and the network burns TRX when you lack them. From an exchange, you pay its withdrawal fee instead.
If I paid in USDT, can my refund be in USDC?
Yes. If the airline cancels, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. You choose USDT or USDC. The refund currency does not depend on the coin you used to top up. Your balance is kept in US dollars, so either stablecoin can be paid out.
How much USDT do I send for a $300 ticket?
About 300 USDT if your balance is empty, plus the network fee your wallet adds. The payment page shows the exact amount, with a few unique digits at the end. Send that exact amount. If your exchange takes its withdrawal fee from the amount you type, add the fee so that the full amount arrives.
Is a stablecoin payment private?
It is a private checkout, not anonymity. Blockchain payments are public: the transfer, its amount and both addresses can be seen by anyone. SatFares asks for no ID upload and no selfie, but airlines still need each traveller's details. See will my bank see it.
