What do Brazilian card and stablecoin rules mean for a flight to Miami?
A Brazilian card used abroad carries IOF, a federal tax on financial operations. Card issuer Nubank gives a rate of 3.5% on purchases and withdrawals abroad, on a page updated August 25, 2026. A dollar fare paid by card also goes through the bank's exchange rate.
Stablecoins have their own rules in Brazil. Since February 2, 2026, buying, selling or paying with stablecoins counts as a foreign exchange operation under Central Bank Resolution 521. The IOF treatment of that operation is not confirmed.
A SatFares fare is in US dollars, and USDT and USDC are dollar stablecoins. Pay in stablecoins; local tax and exchange rules still apply. Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country. See flights from Brazil.
How many Brazilians travel and pay in crypto?
Brazil leads on crypto use. It ranks 1st of 117 countries in the 2026 Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index, published in September 2026. Brazilians also spent $21.7 billion abroad in 2025, the highest level since 2014, according to Central Bank data.
Miami is closely tied to Brazil. Brazil was the top trade partner of Miami International Airport by value in 2025, at $17.05 billion, according to the airport's own fact sheet.
Which refund rules apply on São Paulo to Miami?
The US Department of Transportation refund rule applies, because the flight lands in the United States. It covers scheduled flights to, from or within the country, operated or marketed by the airlines that serve it. The return flight from Miami is covered too.
Under 14 CFR 260, a cancelled flight or a significant change gives a right to a refund if you do not accept the alternative. For an international trip, a change of 6 hours or more counts. The refund is due in the original form of payment, unless you agree to another form.
SatFares follows that logic: if the airline cancels, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. Your flight booking will be bound by the fare rules and Conditions of Carriage of the airline(s). Read refunds when the airline cancels.
What data and documents does a flight to the United States need?
Every traveller's full name as in the passport, date of birth and gender, under the US Secure Flight program. For an international flight to the United States, the airline also sends passport details to US border authorities before departure.
We pass these data to the airline only. No ID upload, no selfie at checkout. Airline ID rules still apply. Visa and entry rules for the United States depend on your nationality; check them with the US Department of State or a US consulate. We do not give visa advice. Details: what data airlines require.
Which airlines fly São Paulo to Miami?

Miami International publishes general figures: 92 airlines and 172 non-stop passenger destinations in August 2026, 20 of them in South America. Schedules and fares change, so the live search shows the airlines, stops and total for your dates. Our team then books the ticket you choose with the airline.
Can I pay in crypto once I land in Miami?
Sometimes, at the places that accept it. We sell the ticket; paying on the spot is another matter. Miami has 142 places on BTC Map within 25 km of the centre, 119 of them verified since 2025 (October 12, 2026). That is the highest count of the 30 destinations on our list. Our sources found no local ban. See flights to Miami, or São Paulo to Orlando for the other Florida route.
Held, not charged
Your balance is held at checkout
The exact total shown is held on your balance. Nothing is charged yet.
We book the ticket for you
Bookings are made on request: our team books the ticket with the airline and confirms the final total. If it is higher than the amount held, you accept the new total or the amount is released.
Charged only when the e-ticket number is issued
Your balance is charged when the airline issues the e-ticket number. If we can't get the ticket issued in time, the full amount is released to your balance.
If the total changes before the ticket is issued, you see the new total and choose: accept it, or have the amount released. Nothing extra is ever taken without your agreement.
Frequently asked questions
Does SatFares collect IOF?
No. SatFares does not collect IOF or other Brazilian taxes. This is not a way to avoid IOF. Since February 2, 2026, buying or paying with stablecoins in Brazil counts as a foreign exchange operation under Central Bank Resolution 521. The IOF treatment of that operation is not confirmed. Brazilian tax and exchange rules still apply to how you buy, hold and spend crypto; ask your provider or an accountant.
Can I pay with USDT on Tron for a Miami flight?
Yes. USDT on Tron (TRC-20) is credited after 20 confirmations, and USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20) after 12. Send each one only to the address of its own network. Funds sent on the wrong network may be lost. See USDT on TRC-20.
Does the US 24-hour rule let me cancel at no cost?
Not automatically. The US 24-hour rule is an obligation of airlines, not of ticket agents. When you cancel a SatFares booking yourself, the fare rules of your ticket decide what you get back. Any refund owed after your own cancellation is credited to your balance.
What if the airline cancels my São Paulo to Miami flight?
You get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. US rules also require a refund in the original form of payment, unless you agree to another form. For a SatFares booking, a balance credit is never imposed: it is only used if you choose it.
Will my bank see a payment to an airline?
Not from our checkout, because no card or bank account is used there. Your bank may still see how you bought your crypto, for example a transfer to an exchange. Blockchain payments are public: private checkout is not anonymity. Read will my bank see it.
Is the ticket in my name?
Yes. The airline issues the e-ticket in the traveller's name, exactly as entered from the passport. SatFares is not the passenger and not the airline. You check in with the airline and show your passport at the airport. Under the US Secure Flight rules, the name must match the passport you travel with.
Can I book a São Paulo to Miami return trip?
Yes. Add a return date in the search. The total shown covers all flights and all passengers, taxes included, and our team confirms the final total before you are charged. The return flight from Miami also falls under the US refund rule. If the airline cancels either flight, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose.
