Which passenger rules protect a Toronto to Cancún flight?

Canada's Air Passenger Protection Regulations. The Canadian Transportation Agency handles issues on flights to, from and within Canada, including connecting flights. So both Toronto to Cancún and Cancún to Toronto are covered.

The regulations also set how an airline pays what it owes:

  • Refund: it goes back to the original method of payment. Another form is allowed only if it does not expire, its value is given in writing, and the buyer confirms in writing (section 18.2).
  • Refund deadline: within 30 days after the airline becomes obligated to refund (section 18.2).
  • Compensation for a delay, a cancellation or denied boarding: in money. Another form must have greater value and never expire, and the passenger must accept it in writing (section 21).

These are the airline's duties. Source: the Justice Laws website of the Government of Canada, text current to September 21, 2026, checked on October 12, 2026.

What does SatFares refund if the flight is cancelled?

If the airline cancels, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. A balance credit is never forced on you.

If the ticket can't be issued in time, nothing is charged. The held amount is released to your balance, and you can withdraw it in USDT or USDC on request.

If you cancel yourself, the fare rules of the ticket decide the amount, and it is credited to your balance. Your flight booking will be bound by the fare rules and Conditions of Carriage of the airline(s). See refunds when the airline cancels.
