Last updated: · 9 min read

Quick answer

How can I book a flight without a credit card or bank account?

To book a flight without a credit card or bank account, pay in crypto. SatFares, a flight booking site paid only in crypto, lets you top up from $25 in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL or LTC. You then book from that balance. Our team books the ticket on request, and the airline issues it in the traveller's name. Your balance is held, not charged, until the e-ticket number is issued.

Can I book a flight without a credit card?

Yes. Here are 5 ways that need no card at all, each with its own limits:

  1. Pay in crypto on SatFares. No card and no bank account. You need crypto in a wallet or on an exchange.
  2. Pay in cash at an airline office or airport desk. Some airlines take cash at their own desks, for some fares. Rules differ by airline and by city.
  3. Use an airline gift card bought with crypto. This works only for airlines that sell gift cards, often only in one country.
  4. Book with another crypto travel seller. Coins, networks and refund rules differ from seller to seller.
  5. Pay from your bank account. Some airlines take bank transfers or bank payments in some countries. You need a bank account.

A debit card, a prepaid card or a crypto debit card is still a card. The issuer's limits and the airline's card-holder rules apply, as explained below.

How do I book a flight with crypto on SatFares?

You top up a balance in crypto, then you book from it. The steps are short:

  1. Top up from $25 in one of our coins and networks. The payment page shows the address and the exact amount.
  2. Search and choose a flight. The price shown is the fare found live for all passengers, in US dollars, taxes included, with no fee added; the final total is confirmed before you are charged.
  3. Enter the traveller details: names exactly as in the passport, date of birth, gender, and passport details for international trips.
  4. Check out. The total is held on your balance. Nothing is charged yet.
  5. We book on request. Our team books the ticket with the airline and confirms the final total. If it is higher, you accept it or the amount is released.
  6. E-ticket in My trips. Your balance is charged only when the airline issues the e-ticket number. If the ticket can't be issued in time, the full amount is released.

No issuing time is promised. Baggage and fare rules are confirmed with your booking. If the airline cancels, you get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. Full details: how it works.

Can I pay for a flight in cash at an airline ticket office?

Sometimes, depending on the airline, the city and the fare. Ask the airline before you go.

Two examples, checked on October 12, 2026:

  • Ethiopian Airlines offers a discounted fare payable in Ethiopian birr to Ethiopian citizens and residents. Travellers without those documents must pay by card on its website or app, or in cash in USD, GBP or EUR at its ticket offices.
  • Wizz Air lists cash at the airport sales desk among its payment methods, in its help centre.

Cash needs a trip to an office or a desk and, often, cash in a foreign currency. A crypto payment can be made from anywhere, at any time.

Can I use an airline gift card bought with crypto?

Yes, for the few airlines that sell gift cards. As of October 2026, Bitrefill sells US Delta gift cards at face value, payable in crypto. Its US Southwest gift cards cost face value plus $0.25 per card.

A gift card works only on that airline, and often only in one country. On SatFares, Delta and Southwest flights can be searched and booked on request, paid from your crypto balance.

Can I use a prepaid card or someone else's card?

You can try, but some airlines check the card holder when you pay them by card. These rules come from the airlines' own pages:

  • Emirates: in some countries, the card holder must be one of the travellers or carry the same name. The card may be requested at the check-in desk.
  • Qatar Airways: may ask for payment details to verify the card holder; a guarantee payment can be requested at the airport.
  • Ethiopian Airlines: the card holder may have to verify the card in person, at the airport or at a ticket office. Some third-party payments need a Credit Card Authorization Form.

When you book on SatFares, you do not pay the airline with a card. So there is no card of yours for the airline to check. You still show your passport at the airport, as every traveller does.

Can I pay with a crypto debit card?

Often yes, but it is still a card payment. A crypto debit card is funded with crypto that you hold on an exchange or in an app. When you pay, the card provider sells your crypto and pays the merchant in regular money. The airline sees a normal card payment.

So the rules of a card still apply:

  • The issuer's rules: the card issuer sets its own fees and limits. Fees may include top-up, withdrawal and conversion fees. Check them before a large payment, such as a long-haul ticket.
  • The airline's card rules: card-holder checks can apply, as at Emirates, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines (see above).
  • Tax: in some countries, selling crypto to pay for something is a taxable event. Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country.

We don't recommend any card. On SatFares, you pay from a crypto balance, so there is no card for the airline to check.

Can I use another crypto flight seller?

Yes. We sell airline tickets paid in crypto. Our offer is included and marked. As of October 2026, per their own pages:

  • Alternative Airlines accepts many coins through payment providers; its USDT page says refunds are paid in USDT minus any applicable fees.
  • Laters accepts BTC, ETH, USDC and USDT, but not USDT on TRC-20, and does not refund in USDT.
  • Cryptorefills books flights with email only; if the airline cancels, it refunds in fiat money.

Why do travellers look for a way to pay without a card?

Card limits and card costs differ by country, and they can make a large payment abroad harder. Two dated examples:

  • Nigeria: international limits on naira cards differ by bank. On September 7, 2026, Nairametrics reported $40,000 per quarter at GTBank, $10,000 per quarter at FirstBank and $8,000 per quarter at Stanbic IBTC.
  • Argentina: a 30% perception applies to card spending in foreign currency, including international passenger transport (RG 5617). El Cronista reported on June 17, 2026 that it still applies.

Pay in stablecoins; local tax and exchange rules still apply. Paying in crypto may be a taxable event in your country. More countries: Card Friction Index, flights from Nigeria, flights from Argentina.

Booking without a credit card: common questions

Can I book a flight without a bank account?

Yes, if you pay in crypto. SatFares takes crypto only, so you need neither a card nor a bank account to pay us. You need coins in a wallet or on an exchange: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. The minimum top-up is $25.

Can I buy a plane ticket with my bank account?

Sometimes, with airlines that offer bank payments in your country. As of October 12, 2026, Wizz Air and Turkish Airlines listed bank transfers on their official payment pages. Ryanair listed iDEAL and Pay by Bank. Options differ by country, so check the airline's payment page. SatFares takes no bank payments: you top up in crypto, with no bank account needed.

Can I book a flight with a debit card instead of a credit card?

A debit card is still a card, and each airline sets its own payment rules. Card-holder checks can apply: Emirates, Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines may check the card holder or ask to verify the card. SatFares does not take cards at all: only crypto.

Is the ticket real if I pay in crypto?

Yes. The airline issues the ticket in the traveller's name, with an e-ticket number. Your SatFares balance is held at checkout and charged only when that e-ticket number is issued. If it can't be issued in time, the full amount is released to your balance.

Do I need ID to book a flight paid in crypto?

Not at checkout: there is no ID upload and no selfie. But the airline requires each traveller's names exactly as in the passport, date of birth and gender, and passport details for international trips. You show your passport at the airport as usual.

Can I pay for someone else's flight in crypto?

Yes. You enter the details of each traveller, and the airline issues the ticket in each traveller's name. The payment comes from your SatFares balance, so the airline has no card of yours to check against the traveller's name. Each traveller still shows their own passport at the airport.

What if the price changes before the ticket is issued?

Our team confirms the final total when it books your ticket. If it is higher than the amount held, you choose: accept it, or have the held amount released. Nothing extra is taken from your balance without your agreement. A price drop is never promised.

Which airlines can I book with crypto on SatFares?

Full-service and low-cost airlines can be searched and booked on request, including Ryanair, Wizz Air and AirAsia. Sanctioned airlines and sanctioned destinations are never sold. Flights to or from a country paused at launch (the United Kingdom) are not on sale. See airlines that accept crypto for direct crypto payments.

What happens if the airline cancels my flight?

You get a refund in USDT or USDC within 7 days, or a balance credit, as you choose. If you cancel yourself, the fare rules of your ticket apply, and any refund is credited to your balance. Flights are not ATOL protected.
